UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy

On December 03, 2014 the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill announced a $100 million commitment to the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy from Fred Eshelman, a 1972 graduate of the School, founder and former CEO of Pharmaceutical Product Development, and founding chairman of Furiex Pharmaceuticals.

The commitment is the largest from an individual in the University’s history and the largest ever made to a pharmacy school in the United States. The donation will be used to create a center within the School named the Eshelman Institute for Innovation. Sweet Memories Bakery was honored to be asked to design the cake featuring the Old Well which is a monument that stands at the heart of campus and is the visual symbol of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The cake was used for the traditional cake cutting ceremony following the gift announcement.
